How to Use Jora to Find Jobs in Australia: Search, Alerts and Quick Apply

A practical guide to Jora, the Australian job search engine that pulls ads from many sites into one place: how to search, set email alerts, use Quick Apply and avoid fake ads.

Jora is a job search engine that gathers ads from job boards, company career pages and other sources, so one search can show roles you might otherwise have to hunt for across several sites. It is part of the SEEK group but works differently: think of it as a wide net rather than a single noticeboard. This guide covers how to search it well, set alerts, apply and stay safe. We are an independent guide and are not connected with Jora.

What Jora is

Jora pulls in listings from many places and also lets some employers post directly. When you open a job, the apply button either keeps you on Jora (Quick Apply) or sends you to the employer, recruiter or job board that originally posted the ad. Searching is free and you do not need an account to look around.

Who it suits

Jora is handy if you:

  • want a quick overview of what is available in your suburb or region
  • are looking for entry-level, casual or junior roles, where many ads say no experience is required
  • want simple email alerts without managing several job board accounts
  • are checking whether a company has advertised a role on its own website as well as elsewhere

How to search well

Use the What box for a job title or skill and the Where box for a suburb, city or state. Jora's support pages make an important point: if you leave out the keyword or the location, results are very broad. A few tips:

  • Add the work pattern to the What box: "casual warehouse", "weekend retail", "night fill".
  • Search the junior or entry version of a job title ("junior warehouse assistant", "trainee") if you are new to the field.
  • When you are signed in and creating an alert, you can also set a radius, job type and salary estimate.
  • Open several ads for the same type of role to see which licences and checks local employers keep asking for.

Email alerts

Without an account, run a search, scroll down to the prompt about similar jobs and choose Notify me with similar jobs. With an account, use the Alerts button at the top of the site, enter your keyword, location, radius, job type and salary estimate, and confirm with Create Job Alert. Check that the results look right before you save, so your inbox fills with useful jobs rather than noise. To stop an alert without an account, use the cancel link at the bottom of the email.

How to apply

There are two main routes:

  • Quick Apply: you stay on Jora, fill in a short form, attach your resumé and add an optional message. A Jora account lets you reuse the same resumé for several applications.
  • Apply on the original site: you are redirected to the employer, recruiter or job board. Check the web address and company name before you enter your details.

Because the same job can appear on several sites, keep a list of where you applied so you do not send the same employer two applications.

Staying safe

Jora shows ads from many sources, so give unfamiliar employers a quick check: look for a real website, an Australian business address and a named contact. Never pay a fee to apply or to be "placed" in a job. Scamwatch warns about recruiters who message you unexpectedly on WhatsApp or Telegram, offers of high pay for easy work from home, and "task" jobs where you must deposit money to earn more. Walk away from anything like that.

Frequently asked questions

Is Jora the same as SEEK?

No, although Jora is part of the SEEK group. Jora is a job search engine that brings together ads from many places, while SEEK is a job board where employers post ads directly.

Do I need an account to get Jora alerts?

No. You can enter a search and choose to be notified about similar jobs by email. Jora notes that alerts and an account are separate, so creating an alert does not create an account.

How do I stop a Jora email alert?

If you do not have an account, use the cancel link at the bottom of the alert email. Each alert is separate, so cancel each one you no longer want.
