Reed.co.uk is one of the best-known job boards in the UK. It lists everything from warehouse and driving work to office, care and hospitality roles, posted both by employers and by recruitment agencies. Its filters are clear and quick, which makes it a good site to check alongside the government's Find a job service and Indeed.

What Reed is

Reed is a UK job board where you can search vacancies, register your CV, save jobs and set up alerts. Each search page also suggests related searches, such as "Immediate Start jobs" or the same job type in nearby counties, which can surface roles you might have missed. The site also has career advice articles, a tax calculator and a separate section selling training courses.

Who it suits

Reed works well if you want to compare permanent and temporary options side by side. Agencies use it a lot for warehouse, driving, cleaning and admin roles, so it is a good place to find flexible or short-term work that can start quickly. It is also useful if you want to see pay up front, thanks to a filter that hides adverts without a salary.

How to search well

Enter a job title in "What" and a town, city or postcode in "Where", then open the filters:

  • Salary range lets you set a minimum and maximum. Tick the option to hide jobs without a salary displayed if you only want adverts that state pay.
  • Job type splits results into Permanent, Temporary, Contract, Full-time and Part-time.
  • Remote/On-site lets you choose On-site, Hybrid or Remote, which is useful for customer service and admin work from home.
  • Date posted offers Today, Last three days and Last week, so you can check the newest adverts first.
  • Easy apply shows only jobs you can apply for straight from Reed.
  • Visa sponsorship is there if you need an employer that can sponsor a work visa.

Once a search looks right, select "Get job alerts" and Reed will email you new matches. Keep alerts focused: one for each job title and area works better than a single broad alert.

How to apply

Register and upload your CV so you can use Easy apply where it is offered. For other adverts you will be taken to the employer's or agency's own site. Read the advert closely: look at who posted it, the contract type, hours and location, and any licence or certificate it asks for, such as an SIA licence for security roles or Driver CPC for lorry driving. If an agency posted the job, it may call you before passing your details to the employer, so keep your phone close and answer as professionally as you would at an interview. Ask the agency which employer the role is with, the shift pattern and the start date, so you can compare it fairly with other offers.

Staying safe

Reed sells courses, and some adverts mention training, but you never need to buy a course or pay anything to apply for a job. Be wary of any "employer" who asks for money for checks, uniforms or starter kits, asks for bank details before an offer, or wants to move the conversation to a messaging app straight away. Never pay a fee to apply. If something feels wrong, stop replying and look up the company's official website and contact details yourself, rather than using the links or numbers the sender gives you, before going further.

Frequently asked questions

Is Reed free for job seekers?

Searching and applying for jobs is free. Reed also sells training courses, but you do not need to buy one to apply for a vacancy.

What is Easy apply on Reed?

Easy apply adverts let you send your application through Reed using the CV stored in your account, rather than filling in a separate form on another site.

Are the jobs on Reed from agencies or employers?

Both. Many adverts come from recruitment agencies, which is common for temporary, driving and warehouse roles. The advert shows who posted it.
